Major Hotel Chain Fails to Warn of Defective/Slippery Shower Surface

Attorneys Scott C. Murray and Keith R. Hedrick recently settled a premises liability claim for $400,000 against a majorYellow Safety Sign - Caution, Slippery Surface hotel chain. This unfortunate incident occurred when our client, who was staying at the hotel, stepped into the shower and encountered an unusually slippery surface – likely caused by the use of cleaning product on the floor. The slippery surface caused him to fall backwards, hit the back of his head on the threshold and strike the left side of his body including his shoulder, and knee. Once he was able to gather himself, he immediately reported the incident to the staff. Please note that the report of an incident is extremely important in a premises liability case and should always be done whenever someone is injured from a fall.

From the fall, our client sustained injuries to his shoulder, knee and back. After undergoing injection therapy for both, as well as surgery to his knee, our client had vast improvement in his pain and symptoms.

Throughout the course of this claim, the hotel chain attempted to blame our client for the fall which forced Attorneys Murray and Hedrick to file a lawsuit and litigate this matter. After over a year of litigation, our team negotiated a fair settlement for our client.
