Damages

Damages in a civil lawsuit are what a plaintiff is seeking to recover. In a personal injury claim, damages are calculated in terms of money. There are two categories of damages, economic damages which are measurable – such as medical expenses and lost wages – and non-economic damages that are more difficult to measure – such as pain and suffering.
