Pictures While Driving (PWD)
By: Scott Perry
If texting, tweeting, and even talking on the phone while driving were not enough – now we have “selfies” to worry about. For those who do not know what a selfie is, it is a picture taken – typically on a cell phone –of one’s self. This is a common action done by teens and young adults.
A selfie in of itself is not a dangerous action, but simply a way to take a picture if there is no one else around to take the picture for you. The danger arises where people are doing this while driving in the car. People not only take pictures while stopped, but while in motion. This is extremely dangerous for the person taking the picture, anyone in the car, and for everyone else on the road.
All it takes is a little distraction to weave from a lane, to not see a car pull out, to not see a pedestrian crossing the road, or to even just let off the brake. This can all have catastrophic consequences. This video link (https://news.yahoo.com/selfies-with-a-splash-of-serious-safety-issues-142045416.html) has a video which explains why distracted driving, in any form, is such a dangerous and devastating concept.
A picture can wait until you get where you are going. A text message can wait until you are not driving. The few minutes wait can save a life.
If you or a love one have been hurt because of a distracted driver, call an attorney who can help explain your rights.
