Attorney Keith R. Hedrick and Attorney Scott C. Murray recently settled an electric scooter vs. motor vehicle collision claim for a confidential high six-figure settlement on behalf of a client who was seriously injured. The crash occurred when our client, who was legally riding his electric scooter on the sidewalk, attempted to proceed through an intersection on a “walk” signal. At the same time, a commercial truck driver attempted to make a right turn, through the same intersection, on a red traffic control signal. Unfortunately, the driver of the commercial vehicle never looked to see if any pedestrians were attempting to cross the intersection, through the crosswalk. There was nothing that our client could do and he crashed into the side of the commercial vehicle.
Immediately following the incident, the commercial driver exited his vehicle, moved our client’s scooter out of the roadway and onto the sidewalk, and informed our client that he had to continue working – fleeing the scene. Following the failure of conservative treatment and injection therapy, his pain persisted, and he ultimately required surgery to his neck.
Despite fleeing the scene, and the lack of any Florida Crash Report, our firm was able to track down and identify the at-fault company and driver.
