West Palm Beach, FL – Murray Guari Trial Attorneys was proud to host its third annual blood drive for Florida’s Blood Centers on March 12, 2009.
The firm is actively involved in raising awareness for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, which is a national organization that provides critical research of these diseases and programs for those afflicted and their families. Patients with leukemia or lymphoma often require blood transfusions throughout their treatment. Attorneys Scott Murray and Jason Guari are thankful for each individual who took the time to give blood.
Some facts about the need for blood donors include:
- Five percent of the population donates blood for a staggering 60 percent who will need it during their lifetime.
- At least 1,500 donors per day are needed to fulfill the needs of patients that Florida’s Blood Centers serve.
- Five different blood products are derived from a single donation – white blood cells, red blood cells, platelets, plasma and a clotting factor – which are useful in treating cancer, anemia, hemophilia, burns, trauma and other conditions.
Florida’s Blood Centers (FBC) was established on April 2, 1942, shortly after the start of World War II. During its 60 years, FBC has consistently provided the communities it serves with a safe and adequate blood supply.
